The original DS came out in 2004. It was bigger that the one in the picture to the left and had a smaller stylist (pen used for system). This system was big for its touch screen ability and microphone. It replased the Game Boy SP. My brother has the original version. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_DS )

The DS lite is the DS you see in the pitcure, which came out in June 2006. This version came with a brigher screen and some buttons moved around. This version is smaller that the orininal and dose not break as easy. This is not a great upgrade for people with the original but, if you don't have one is a better choice. The newest version of the DS id the DSi, which came out in April 2009. This version came with built in wifi ($30 atachment forDS) and, a built in camara about as good as a cell phone's. This version is the same size as the one before it even with the new add ons. I do do not own one but have used one, once again not a must have upgrade if you own a working DS.
